COVID-19 Impact Fund Contribution Dollar-for-Dollar Match

(Canton, OH) June 8, 2020 – Many families in our community are still in crisis and grappling with the impact of COVID-19. Right now, when you contribute to United Way of Greater Stark County’s COVID-19 Impact Fund, your contribution – up to $50,000 – will be matched dollar for dollar by a generous donor.

As of June 4, with the help of local foundations, workplaces and individuals, we have raised a total of $185,487.91 to help workers who have had their hours reduced because of the pandemic and need assistance paying their rent or mortgage. Thanks to the generosity of our community, the fund has provided relief to more than 160 households in Stark and Carroll County, and with your help, we can continue to do more.

I was behind in rent before the abrupt mandatory closings of restaurants on March 15, 2020.  I honestly had no clue what I was going to do, as I was just barely getting by on what tips I bring home, then I saw an article mentioning local help for individuals impacted by the mass layoff. I immediately reached out and was directly communicating with a member of staff from the united way. I was able to get assistance with rent while waiting on unemployment. I am now able to say that I am 100 percent caught up on all my rent and utilities, thanks to the help from our local United Way.” – Gloria
