Young Leaders Society launches campaign to fund Get Connected program

Canton, Ohio (Oct. 1, 2019) — United Way of Greater Stark County’s Young Leaders Society (YLS) launched its “Five for Five” fundraising campaign today. In celebration of its fifth anniversary, YLS hopes to raise $5,000 from its membership by October 31 to benefit Get Connected, a United Way program that offers mentorship and job training opportunities to local high school students.

“YLS maintains a strong focus on education, so the decision to partner with Get Connected was an easy choice,” said Molly McDougal, YLS chair. “This incredible program helps Stark County students learn the skills they need to thrive in the workforce and strengthen our community.”

The grant funding for United Way’s Get Connected program finished at the end of last school year. Through this campaign and the support of YLS donors, the organization hopes to keep the program funded.

“Without additional funding, countless mentorship and professional development opportunities will cease to exist for students in our community,” said Laura Prengaman, director of corporate and volunteer engagement for United Way of Greater Stark County. “We need the support of YLS members to help keep this gateway to success open for tomorrow’s young leaders.”
