Cristina Torrence

Your title:  Chief Financial Officer 

Tell us a bit about your background: Cristina D. Torrence, CFO for United Way of Greater Stark County, is a servant leader who exudes personal and professional excellence. Cristina, who graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from Ashland University majored in Accounting and Operations Management. Torrence has more than twenty years’ public accounting, non-profit and business management experience working with small business and not-for-profit organizations with revenues up to $50 million.  

As CFO, she provides financial oversight and analysis, tax compliance, annual audit oversight and internal control implementation, strategic planning, forecasting and budgetary planning, cash-flow management, and new information technology systems implementations. Torrence boasts, “the diversity of her professional experience has given her numerous perspectives, levels of accountability and business acumen that have enhanced her dexterity and efficiency as a financial executive and leader.” Torrence is a pioneer accountant whose work is an extension of herself. She takes pride in her ability to take chaotic finances and orchestrate them into a beautiful story of organizational performance. 

When did you join the team at United Way of Greater Stark County? I joined the team at United Way of Greater Stark County in February 2023. 

What do you enjoy most about your work at United Way? I most enjoy the mission and work of United Way of Greater Stark County. I am passionately aligned with work that serves the least of these. 

What community partners or volunteer programs are you most passionate about supporting? Please explain. I am most passionate about our Strong Neighborhood, Strong Families program. 

What do you like to do outside of work? I like to serve the community through volunteer board membership.
