Beth Hensley

Your title: VP, Marketing and Communications

Tell us a bit about your background: I have worked in the marketing and communications field for over 35 years. I have a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree.

When did you join the team at United Way of Greater Stark County? I joined the team in August 2022.

Briefly explain your role at United Way: I am responsible for the overall brand and UWGSC image management and messaging.

Have you held any previous positions at United Way? If so, what positions? No previous positions were held at UW.

What do you enjoy most about your work at United Way? I like that there are opportunities to tell our story to many diverse groups in the community. I like the fact that we are in the process of telling a new story and so far, it seems to be well received.

What community partners or volunteer programs are you most passionate about supporting? Please explain. I have a special place in my heart for the kiddos, parents, teachers and staff at Gibbs Elementary as we have partnered with community agencies to provide the kids and families with valuable services. I know that as we grow, I will have even more locations holding a special place in my heart.

What do you like to do outside of work? I like to refinish furniture when time permits. At one time a few years ago, I had a traveling “store” that was called the Vintage Chicks (I had a friend who was a partner, so we were the “chicks”).

If you could share any piece of advice with the children of Stark County, what would it be?  Find that one champion or person who really gets you and helps you in so many ways. Be in their presence as much as possible so you can have a positive influence in your life.

Is there anything else you would like us to include in your bio? I truly love that UWGSC can make a difference in the community for so many children and their families who are living in poverty. It energizes me that we can help the community!
