Birth certificate and ID vouchers
This program provides birth certificates and photo IDs to those living in a Continuum of Care shelter or those entering an addiction recovery program.
Birth certificate and photo ID
Effective April 7, 2023, the Ohio Voter ID law allows for those who are U.S. Citizens and over the age of 17 to be issued a FREE State Photo ID. Please contact your local BMV to find out more information. Without a birth certificate or photo identification, individuals and families in our community struggle to find the care they need. Whether it’s a homeless family looking for shelter or an individual seeking addiction treatment, in-house recovery services often require documentation at the time of intake.
About the ID program
At United Way of Greater Stark County, we partner with Stark County shelters and treatment centers to provide vouchers for free birth certificates and/or photo IDs to Stark County residents born in Ohio. Eligibility for the vouchers:
- Currently receiving support through a homeless shelter
- Currently receiving treatment for drug and/or alcohol addiction
United Way of Greater Stark County does NOT issue vouchers. Individuals must be receiving support from one of the partner agencies to obtain a voucher.
