Birth Certificate and Photo ID
Without a birth certificate or photo identification, individuals and families in our community struggle to find the care they need. Whether it’s a homeless family looking for shelter or an individual seeking addiction treatment, in-house recovery services often require documentation at the time of intake.
Through an initiative between United Way of Greater Stark County, the Ohio BMV and local health departments, the ID Program provides photo IDs and birth certificates to homeless individuals and families living in a Continuum of Care shelter, as well as those seeking and receiving addiction treatment.
About the ID Program
At United Way of Greater Stark County, we work with the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles and area health departments to provide vouchers for free birth certificates and photo IDs to Stark County residents born in Ohio.
This program helps provide:
- Free birth certificates to individuals through our community partners at Refuge of Hope, YWCA, Canton, Domestic Violence Project of Stark County
- Free photo IDs to individuals through our community partners at Crisis Intervention & Recovery Center, CommQuest Services, Phoenix Rising
Vouchers for birth certificates and photo IDs may be obtained at our partner treatment centers: CommQuest Services, Crisis Intervention & Recovery Center and Phoenix Rising Behavioral Healthcare and Recovery Inc. Alliance residents may obtain a birth certificate by contacting Alliance for Children & Families at 330-821-6332.crisis
