Emergency Assistance
Everyone experiences emergencies from time to time. When a crisis hits, you need somewhere to turn for help. The Emergency Assistance Collaborative provides streamlined, client-centered services to Greater Stark County residents who are seeking temporary financial help with rent, mortgage or utility payments such as household gas, electric, heating oil and water.
This program is a collaboration between United Way of Greater Stark County, The Salvation Army (Massillon, Alliance and Canton), and Catholic Charities Serving Portage and Stark Counties.
Get Help
Through April 2020-March 2021, this program helped distribute $184,770.35 into 526 households to help with rent and utilities. Since 2018, this program has helped more than 3,210 households stay financially stable.
Applicant Eligibility
To qualify for help from the Emergency Assistance Collaborative, you must:
- Reside in Stark County
- Be at or below 300% federal poverty level
- Provide a valid photo ID and documented social security numbers for all household members (only last four digits are recorded)
- Provide proof of gross household income for the past 30 days
