Literacy Kit Assembly – Volunteer Event

Wednesday, December 11th – 4 PM – 5:30 PM

Location: United Way of Greater Stark County Office

In Ohio, almost 40% of kids entering kindergarten are not on track at the beginning of the school year in language and literacy. This, in turn, can lead to learning struggles throughout school and leads to us facing a statewide workforce crisis. This is why preparing children for kindergarten success is one of United Way’s goal areas. Reading may seem like a simple activity, but by age 3 children from low-income families typically have HALF the vocabulary of their peers.

Help us to create 120 literacy kits to give to children in Stark County that include a book and activities to help them foster a love of learning and literacy from an early age so we can give all kids a chance for success in school.

We are looking for 50 volunteers to help us assemble these kits, so sign up today!
