When you think of children, what is the first thing that comes to mind? Most people think of children playing, laughing, and overall, being happy. Unfortunately, this is not every child’s reality. According to WebMD, nearly 5 million children in the U.S. have a form of serious mental illness, and in any given year, 20% of American children will be diagnosed with a mental illness. This may all seem far away, but it’s at our doorstep, affecting our children.
The first step towards any meaningful change is to have conversations and decrease the stigma associated with it. Join us for a virtual panel discussion where we will be talking about mental health, the effects that it has on children, and how poverty and mental health intersect. We look forward to exploring these crucial issues with you.
