Celebrating a Caring Community Who Stepped Up in 2020

(Stark and Carroll Counties, OH) February 11, 2021— Through the support, generosity and passion of workplaces and individuals, United Way of Greater Stark County has raised $5.5M, which will help provide health, education and financial stability services to Stark and Carroll County residents.

“Through a difficult year of many hardships, we are grateful to our community for providing hope for our neighbors,” says Chris Goff, 2020 Campaign Chair and Employers Health CEO and General Counsel. “We set the goal this year at $5.1 million, a decrease from 2019 reflecting the incredible challenges of 2020. Our community rose to the challenge and gave relief to those in need, helping them build brighter futures. I am amazed at the power of our community. You came together to support our neighbors, and I thank you for stepping up and helping families in need.”

The annual fundraising campaign kicked-off on September 10 with a virtual event featuring stories of individuals helped through the COVID-19 Impact Fund. All donations received during United Way’s fiscal year, ending March 30, count towards the 2020 Annual Fundraising Campaign. Money raised helps provide support to health, education and financial stability services in Stark and Carroll Counties.

“Thank you to everyone who rose to the challenge of 2020,” said Maria Heege, President & CEO of United Way of Greater Stark County. “The needs in the community are great and we could not have helped so many without the support of our workplaces and individuals who cared enough to give. We are thankful to a caring community, a committed campaign chair and dedicated volunteers. Thank you for investing in the future of Stark and Carroll Counties and making our community stronger.”

United Way will recognize many of the corporate supporters and community partners that made reaching goal possible at its virtual Annual Celebration Meetings March 18 & 25. Pre-register today to learn more: March 18March 25
