CANTON PROM Event Will Raise Money for New Scholarship Fund

(Canton, OH) February 20, 2017 – United Way’s Young Leaders Society is once again hosting the Canton Prom event, continuing the annual tradition of raising funds to benefit a well-deserving program in the community. Proceeds from this year’s Canton Prom will benefit a new scholarship fund established to support local students on their educational journey.

The Canton Prom committee has nominated 5 couples who will compete for the coveted title of Royal Couple by raising money for the scholarship fund. The nominated couples are: Jared Michael Sparks & Buddy Lee, Cassie Ausperk & Tony Ly, Michelle & Mark Kemp, Keri Sullivan & Anthony Chirumbolo, and Joe Monaco & Ashley Starr. The unique fundraising endeavors include a wine-tasting event and a cabaret night. Each couple receives a professional portrait and a unique text code, to be used in social media efforts to help them win.

Canton Prom 2018 will take place on March 24th at The Historic Onesto, 225 2nd Street NW, Canton. Tickets are $30 for an individual and $50 for a couple. The gala event is open to the public and will include a cash bar, photographer and Nikolina, the mid-day DJ Diva from presenting sponsor Q92 FM. There will also be a popcorn bar, coffee and a variety of desserts. Everyone 21 and over is invited to this unique opportunity to relive the excitement of Prom while also supporting a worthy cause in our community. Formal attire is required.

“Canton Prom is a really great way to promote what Young Leaders Society is doing for the community to a group of peers that probably don’t know much about us,” says Laura Prengaman, Canton Prom Chair. “I really enjoy planning this event mostly because it’s a great night out, but also because it supports a great cause. Many of the students receiving our scholarships will be first-generation college students, and this will help alleviate some costs that other scholarships don’t typically cover.”

Tickets can be purchased by texting CANTONPROM to 51555 or online at www.uwstark.org/canton-prom. Paper tickets will also be sold through the Prom Nominees. Digital tickets and paper tickets will be on sale until March 22nd at 4PM. All sales are final and non-refundable.

UWGSC extends special thanks to Canton Prom program sponsors and in-kind donations. Without them, the event would not be possible: Access Financial Group, B-Squared, Canton Brewing Company, Canton Chair Rental, Cultured Coffee & Waffles, DLP Commercial Maintenance Systems LLC, H2 Huth & Harris Wine Merchants, The Music Shoppe, Nicks Wicks Candle Co., Royal Docks Brewing Co., Shearer’s Snacks and Tremont Coffee Co.
