(Canton, OH) August 27, 2020 – United Way of Greater Stark County will launch its annual fundraising campaign during an online event on Thursday, Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. The event will stream live on the organization’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.
“Like so many other events this year, our annual fundraising campaign will look a little different in order to protect the health and safety of our community,” said United Way of Greater Stark County President & CEO Maria Heege. “This year, we’re inviting the public to celebrate the start of our annual campaign with us online. It’s an exciting opportunity for us to engage directly with our community in a new way.”
Heege will host the event, along with United Way of Greater Stark County Board President and retired Judge Mike Howard, as well as Employers Health CEO and General Counsel, 2020 Campaign Chair Chris Goff.
During the event, United Way staff will share stories of families in Stark and Carroll Counties who received rent and mortgage assistance through the organization’s COVID-19 Impact Fund. The event will raise money for the nonprofit’s COVID-19 Impact Fund to provide relief for those who have lost their jobs or had their hours reduced as a result of the pandemic.
Goff will also announce the annual campaign fundraising goal at the event.
“This has been a challenging year for so many in our community, and our campaign goal will reflect that,” said Goff. “The hardship we’re facing makes it critical that we hit our goal, but we’re confident that our community will rise to the occasion to help one another, as it has before.”
