United Way Awards New Funding to Local Food Pantries

(Stark County, OH) December 2, 2025 – United Way of Greater Stark County (UWGSC) announces a special funding award aimed at combating hunger within the local community. A total of $43,500 will be invested this month, ensuring that no family goes hungry this giving season.

Funding Allocation:

  1. Feed Kids First: A contribution of $6,500 will be dedicated to Feed Kids First. This funding is specifically earmarked for the support of their school-based pantries, which play a crucial role in providing nutritious meals to children who may otherwise face food insecurity.
  2. Stark County Hunger Task Force: The Stark County Hunger Task Force will receive $36,100 to be distributed throughout their extensive Food Pantry Network. This support will enable the continued provision of essential food supplies to families in need across the county.
  3. Alliance Preschool Through Strong Neighborhoods Strong Families: In an effort to support young learners and their families, Alliance Preschool will receive $900 in food support. This initiative, part of the Strong Neighborhoods Strong Families program, ensures that preschool students and their families have access to nutritious food options.

According to Adrianne Price, Vice President of Community Impact, “Skipping meals affects more than hunger – it hurts learning, heightens stress at home, and makes daily life even harder. Thanks to their committed partners and volunteers, these incredible food programs stretch every dollar to support the people who need it most.”

As the holiday season approaches, the needs of local food pantries grow. UWGSC encourages community members to join in supporting these vital resources, whether through donations, volunteering, or advocacy. Together, we can make a significant impact in the fight against hunger and strengthen the fabric of our community.
