DAY OF CARING 2018 | FRIDAY, MAY 18
This annual event celebrates volunteerism throughout Greater Stark County by bringing together teams from local businesses, municipalities, churches and civic groups to complete projects and make significant impact on the nonprofit community. Day of Caring is a remarkable team builder for employee groups and allows volunteers to see firsthand the great work accomplished by our non-profits in Greater Stark County. United Way of Greater Stark County’s annual Day of Caring event has connected hundreds of altruistic community members with local agencies, schools and organizations in volunteer opportunities for over 25 years. Together, the partnerships create stronger neighborhoods and healthier people for a better Greater Stark County through a wide variety of service projects. Day of Caring promotes the spirit and value of volunteerism, increases the awareness of local human service agencies and schools, and demonstrates what people working together for the community can accomplish.
Huntington Bank is sponsoring Day of Caring 2018.
Any 501(c)(3) agency may submit project proposals through April 6th. Required submission information includes a short description of the project with the intention of recruiting volunteer groups. The number of anticipated volunteers needed and an estimation of work hours is also required. Agencies will need to provide equipment, supplies and materials needed for the project(s), along with a meal for the volunteers working through lunch.
All project proposals are welcome, including indoor and outdoor activities. Project ideas include painting walls at a community center, conducting mock interviews for low-income job seekers, picking up litter at a park or reading to children. There is no limit to the number of projects agencies can submit.
“Day of Caring is an opportunity to change a community through partnership in service,” said Maria Heege, President and CEO of United Way of Greater Stark County. “Agencies have the opportunity to connect with new volunteers to promote health, education and financial stability in the community through a diverse range of projects.”
Projects completed through United Way of Greater Stark County’s Day of Caring allow local agencies, schools and organizations to complete projects most groups could not undertake on their own. Every project is an opportunity for people to make connections and help our community thrive.
