Campaign Award Winners
Employers Health receives this year’s Cornerstone Award. This award recognition celebrates workplace partners that achieve at least 65% employee giving participation to their United Way campaign and growth of $1,000 or more to their overall employee campaign. Employers Health exceeded these award qualifiers by far! They have an outstanding 81% of employees giving and their campaign increased by nearly $4,000 this past year. Their giving also includes the generosity of their time as they complete community service activities as a team. This award showcases the kindness and caring hearts of Employers Health employees in giving back to their community. This recognition is just a small way for us to show our appreciation to Employers Health and their associates for their partnership and support. We recognize their commitment to serving individuals in our community, leading them to a healthier and more stable life. Congratulations on this honor!
Chair's Circle Award
Chair’s Circle is a select group of workplace partners that have demonstrated their commitment to improving the community through not only giving, but engagement, volunteer leadership and other partnership opportunities with United Way. These workplaces vary in employee size, demographics and industry, thus providing United Way with a representative voice from the community. We recognize the 2018 inaugural class of Chair’s Circle partners for the support they have provided and their generosity, both in dollars and time.
Aultman Health Foundation
It’s probably no surprise that Aultman Health Foundation is one of our Chair’s Circle partners with their demonstrated commitment to the community in such a wide variety of ways. Their United Way support includes a campaign that raises $500K+ on an annual basis and so much more! Last year, they featured a highly successful and fun food truck round-up as part of the kick-off to their United Way campaign, as well as a raffle drawing for a weekend vacation. Aultman employees have served or are currently on United Way’s Board of Directors, Impact Councils, Women United and various Young Leaders Society committees, as well as participation in Day of Caring and other volunteer activities throughout the year. Thank you, Aultman Health Foundation and your employees, for your immense generosity to providing Stark County residents a better life.
Diebold Nixdorf has partnered with United Way in a number of ways over the years. They are one of our original Get Connected partners, hosting area high school students at their North Canton facility to learn more about their business and employment opportunities in Stark County. A number of associates have or are currently serving as mentors to local students, supporting them through high school and onto the next phase of their journey. Associates are also active on United Way’s Board of Directors and Women United. Diebold annually participates in Day of Caring, as well as holds an annual Stone Soup event as a way for associates to give back. Thank You, Diebold Nixdorf, for continuing the tradition of United Way in the workplace and supporting area children and families to a stronger future!
H-P Products, Inc.
H-P Products has been a staple of support to United Way for decades. Their employee campaign in 2018 featured three kick-off events in one day to include all of their nearly 400 employees! A highlight of the event was the complimentary snow cone truck that was onsite for the day. Associates from H-P volunteer their time as part of the Alexis De Tocqueville volunteer cabinet and United Way Impact Council. H-P is incredibly active in the Get Connected program, hosting area high school students to learn more about local business and employment opportunities. We are lucky to have H-P as a partner in serving our community.
Marathon Petroleum Company LP – Ohio Refining Division
Six years ago, Marathon added two special events to their annual United Way campaign – an annual clay shoot and golf outing. Over a five-year period, these two events more than doubled in size, going from raising $72K to raising more than $190K in 2018! In addition, they have seen growth to their employee campaign, participate in multiple volunteer projects throughout the year and have had employees serving on United Way’s Board of Directors, Women United’s Girl UP and Young Leaders Society Steering Committee. Numerous employees serve on various United Way planning committees within the Marathon organization and dedicate their time to ensuring successful events to benefit our community. Thank you, Marathon, for your strong commitment to Stark County!
The support from Synchrony Financial overall is impressive, but one of the most amazing things is the coordination that it takes to manage their employee campaign. With more than 800 employees in Stark County, Synchrony holds over 50 different meetings in a two-week period to offer presentations to all employees! On top of that, in 2018 they held an employee golf outing, an interactive learning opportunity for associates and an agency fair to engage associates in United Way’s work. Synchrony participates with a 60+ person team in Day of Caring annually, had volunteer readers go out on Read Across America day and also had a team coordinate a snack drive to help United Way create “snack sacks” to be given to homeless shelters. Kudos to Synchrony for the hands-on work that you do to create better lives in our community!
The Beaver Excavating Company
Generosity is synonymous with Beaver Excavating. You will often see their employees involved in various community activities, not just with United Way. In addition to their corporate and employee support, Beaver associates love to get out and volunteer, especially when they can get their hands dirty and bring out their equipment for a project! You’ll always see them out on Day of Caring with a volunteer team, often with some of their equipment moving dirt or mulch around as they help with outdoor improvement projects. Over the past year, we’ve coordinated projects for their interns to get out in the community, as well. They are always one to jump in and participate in collection drives – whether it be books, purses, toiletries or other. Giving back is truly part of their culture. It is a privilege to work with Beaver and we sincerely thank their associates for their generosity and support.
The Karcher Group
The team at TKG feels passionately about our community and that passion comes through loud and clear with their support to United Way. TKG team members serve on United Way’s Board of Directors, are Women United members and Young Leaders Society Steering Committee members. They love to have fun at TKG and it translates into their employee campaign theme each year – this past year featured Pizza & Pictionary! TKG-ers have participated in Day of Caring for a day of team building and service, and they are also huge supporters of the Get Connected program. You’ll often find their associates lending their experience and expertise while serving on college and career panels for Glen Oak students in the Get Connected program. Kudos to The Karcher Group for your support, generosity and expertise that you lend to United Way throughout the year!
Timken Company is one of the founding partners to United Way and that support still stands true today. With a campaign raising more than $520K to support our community and associates active in numerous ways, the generosity of this workplace has spanned decades. Just a few highlights from their campaign include a leadership event with guest speaker, incentives for employees and multiple volunteer opportunities. Day of Caring is a tradition with Timken associates and they have also supported various drives and other service projects throughout the years. Their associates can be found lending a hand to United Way’s Board of Directors, Campaign Cabinet and Young Leaders Society committees. Thank You, Timken Company, for your generosity and commitment to the Stark County community!
Our community is so lucky to have TimkenSteel in it. Their generosity and commitment to serving children, individuals and families is apparent in everything they do. Their support to United Way features a strong employee campaign, lunch and learn opportunities for associates, employee giving incentives and so much more. Like many others, TimkenSteel is an annual participant in Day of Caring, they have held a Stone Soup event for associates for several years and they are always willing to jump into other projects. Just recently, their WIN group participated in United Way’s Purse Project, collecting an impressive 200+ purses for women in our community! TimkenSteel associates serve on United Way’s Board of Directors, Impact Councils, Women United and Young Leaders Society Steering Committee. It is a privilege and pleasure to partner with TimkenSteel and its associates and we thank you for your support!
The team at Williams is an incredibly hardworking and generous one. Their United Way campaign has been increasing steadily over the past four years, much in thanks to the generosity of their associates, vendors and the dedication of their campaign team. They coordinate a highly successful golf outing each year for both vendors and employees. Their employee campaign features an annual cornhole tournament and this past year included a tasty dessert bake-off event! Their team puts great thought, planning and creativity into identifying ways to include all associates. Williams team members can be found volunteering on Day of Caring, collecting purses, reading to children on Read Across America Day and so much more throughout the year. They have built a solid foundation for support and commitment to both Stark and Carroll Counties and we are so grateful for their partnership to do amazing things in these communities!
