(Canton, OH) January 17, 2020 — United Way of Greater Stark County has exceeded its annual fundraising campaign goal of $6.1 million, by raising $6,219,765, which will help provide nearly 140,000 services to Stark County residents through direct services and partner programs.
“United Way always has a new and different way to create positive change in the community,” says Tonya Wright. “They are never afraid of a challenge. Throughout the campaign, we were always inspired by their dedication and encouragement. Deep in our hearts, we understand the impact of their influence in Stark County. They are truly amazing for the community.”
Tonya Wright, United Way of Greater Stark County board member, and Mark Wright, Chief Financial Officer at Aultman Health Foundation, co-chaired the 2019 campaign.
“Thank you to everyone who donated to United Way this year,” said Mark Wright. “Your support and generosity will give so many children and families a second chance. We could not have reached our goal without the support of so many civic-minded community leaders, passionate workplaces and kind individuals. Thank you for creating positive change that will help re-write so many stories. You are the reason our community is stronger.”
The annual fundraising campaign started September 6 and ended December 6. Money raised helps provide support to more than 70 vital health and human services.
“We set an aggressive goal, created a comprehensive plan and shared with everyone the needs in the community,” said Maria Heege, United Way of Greater Stark County President & CEO. “Many individuals and families work hard but cannot make ends meet. They simply need a second chance and we can help provide that. Benevolence and commitment of Stark County residents is what makes our community a better place to live and work. We are most thankful for you. You have made a difference and changed someone’s life for the better.”
United Way will recognize many of the corporate supporters and community partners that made reaching goal possible at its Annual Celebration in March at Kent State University at Stark Conference Center.
