United Way of Greater Stark County’s Financial Prosperity Center provides wraparound services to individuals and families through resource connecting, financial coaching and counseling, financial and soft skills workshops, and multiple financial programs like VITA, Auto Repair and Prosperity@Work.

The Center was established in early 2017 and is a partnership between United Way, OhioMeansJobs Stark County and Stark Tuscarawas Workforce Development Board.

Auto Repair

Auto Repair helps local families get back on the road by providing financial assistance for costly vehicle repairs that the family cannot afford.

Financial & Soft Skill Workshops

Financial and Soft Skills are taught through workshops available to the community. Instructors focus on increasing financial literacy through money management, debt and credit report education, as well as improving personal skills like critical thinking, communication and leadership.

Financial Coaching & Counseling

Financial Coaching & Counseling is a client-driven program that works with low-to-moderate individuals. The focus is increased economic mobility and independence. A financial coach works with the client to facilitate self-awareness about their goals and underlying values, and to align the clients’ behavior with their desired outcome.

Tax Assistance

Volunteer Income Tax Services (VITA) helps moderate-to-low income households meet basic needs and build financial assets as they continue to achieve long-term financial independence. Trained volunteers help individuals file taxes for free, looking for all possible credits.

Resource Connecting refers individuals to services in the community that will help reduce barriers in their life so they can find success at work and strengthen their family.

Prosperity@Work

Prosperity@Work is a solution driven collaborative, dedicated to improving workplace retention, productivity, advancement, financial stability, and the well-being of employees. Employees are taught financial skills, soft skills, and more at the workplace, during work hours, in-person or virtually, helping employees address non-work related, personal, and family challenges that interfere with employees’ ability to be productive and focus on work and their career.
