(Carroll and Stark Counties, Ohio) January 26, 2021 – Free financial coaching services now available through United Way of Greater Stark County’s Economic Mobility Center, formerly Financial Prosperity Center.
“We are here to offer free, virtual financial coaching to individuals and workplaces, helping guide our community members to set up a strong financial foundation,” said Tyron Hoisten, Personal Finance Coordinator at United Way of Greater Stark County. “This program offers a step-by-step road map to enriching your financial condition, reducing the fear and risk of doing it on your own.”
Financial coaches work with employed individuals in regular, virtual one-on-one sessions to support them in setting and achieving their financial goals. Coaches offer encouragement and monitoring in a process largely driven by the client’s needs. They work together to identify what’s important to the client and why, focusing on individual’s unique goals, exploring possible solutions, and establishing milestones for building an action plan.
“It is important to provide a successful pathway to financial stability. This program will help empower our clients and provide accelerated growth to our community,” says Robin Seemann, Director of Financial Stability Programs at United Way of Greater Stark County. “We want to focus action on financial education so people can make more effective, independent decisions concerning their budget and financial plans.”
Each coaching experience is unique, but the process includes gathering basic information at intake, coaching agreement, setting a schedule, establishing & prioritizing goals, assigning actions, making course adjustments, and reviewing & assessing progress.
Volunteers who would like to help members of our community achieve financial stability by becoming financial coaches can sign up today at uwstark.org/financial-coaching. Volunteers will receive virtual professional training and certification.

“My coach took the time to get to know both me and my financial needs and concerns. I can definitely say that I feel more confident and optimistic with what I want my financial future to look like. After working with my coach to develop some goals, and a plan to achieve them, I was able to pay down my debt and improve my credit score by 86 points. My coach encouraged and provided the support needed, making me accountable for my choices and my successes. I am a believer that my financial goals and dreams are possible to achieve, my coach helped me see it!” Brenda – Canton, Ohio
