United Way Young Leaders Society is a group of passionate young professionals who come together to educate, engage and inspire individuals across Greater Stark County. We harness our time and talents through mentorship, fundraising and volunteerism to activate education initiatives and build a better community.
Young Leaders Society is excited to announce that we have established a YLS Book Scholarship Fund. This brand-new scholarship is eligible to students in one of the programs that YLS partners with to provide mentorship support. This scholarship is a $1,000 award, renewable
for up to 4 years, to offset the expense of books needed to further the student’s education after high school. We recognize that books are a necessary, but costly, expense that is not typically covered by academic scholarships and want to help ease the burden of that expense
This book scholarship is a renewable (up to 4 years) $1,000 award.
CRITERIA FOR ELIGIBILITY:
This scholarship is awarded to students who meet the following criteria:
Stark County high school senior attending Canton Harbor High School, or CHOICES or participating in CAMP or GET CONNECTED programming.
Have an accumulated grade point average of 2.75 or better on a 4.00 scale or the equivalent by the demonstration of proficiency on all required state standards. Submit the application, an official high school transcript, and a personal statement by the published deadline.
All these criteria are required, along with other factors as determined by the United Way Young Leader’s Society Steering Committee. Students from underrepresented populations are encouraged to apply.
