Read Across America

READ ACROSS AMERICA

United Way of Greater Stark County is offering a two-fold approach for participating in the 2018 Read Across America event.
The event is usually celebrated on March 2, Dr. Seuss’s birthday. We’re extending Read Across America this year in order to reach our goal of 100% Kindergarten readiness among Stark County children. You can get involved in one of the following ways:

  • READINGS

    • From March 5th to March 30th, workplaces and individuals can read books to children at local early childhood centers:

      Early Childhood Resource Center
      JRC Learning Center
      Navarre Towpath Trail YMCA
      Stuckey Interfaith Child Development Center
      YWCA of Canton

  • BOOK DRIVE

    • From April 2nd to April 27, we are encouraging the community to collect books for local early childhood centers. Workplaces, service organizations and groups can run their own drives; individuals can donate to local drop-off sites or at our United Way of Greater Stark County’s in downtown Canton. Each site will bring its books to our offices between April 30 and May 11, 2018. The books will then be sorted, packaged, and delivered to the centers listed above during our annual Day of Caring on Friday, May 18th.
