COMMUNITY BABY SHOWER DRIVE
United Way of Greater Stark County is committed to combatting infant mortality as one of its Bold Goals for 2020. We’re devoting our 2017 Day of Action to helping new mothers in our community get the materials they need to raise healthy, happy babies. From June 1 to 20, you can donate the items listed below and do your part to fight infant mortality in our community.
DID YOU KNOW?
-The infant mortality rate in Ohio in 2015 was 7.2 deaths for every 1,000 live births, compared to 5.8 nationwide.
-In Ohio, the rate of infant mortality among black babies in 2015 was 10.4 per 1,000 live births, compared to 7.3 nationwide in 2014.
-In Stark County in 2015, the infant mortality rate was 4.8 per 1,000 live births.

WHERE ARE THESE ITEMS GOING?
United Way will be collecting for Mercy Medical Center’s Latino Moms program. Collection runs from June 1 to 20. The items will be gifted at a Healthy Mom, Healthy Baby shower on August 16.
WHAT ITEMS ARE WE COLLECTING?
We will be collecting diapers, baby wipes, and sleepsacks. These items are needed throughout the first year and cannot be purchased with food stamps or cash assistance.
HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED?
You can get involved with the Day of Action by signing your company up to donate or donating individually at a nearby community drop off location.
