STONE SOUP is a grassroots project that involves the donation of pre-made meals, such as soup or casseroles. These meals are then donated to shelters, churches and other organizations serving people in need. United Way of Greater Stark County can help you create and run a STONE SOUP event to feed the hungry in our community.

Volunteers bring an ingredient and participate in making the meals. We encourage you to bring your family and friends, too! Each member of your family/workplace will be an assigned an ingredient to bring for a recipe. We will let you know how much to bring and how to prepare the item. Volunteers divide into small groups, and each of your ingredients will be assembled into soups or casseroles. Completed meals will be delivered and donated to transitional housing and shelters.
WORKPLACE CHARITY: contributes to team-building, generates positive public publicity, and helps the company serve as a good community partner.
INEXPENSIVE: individual monetary commitment is only between $7 - $10 per person.
QUICK: Your commitment to the project shouldn’t take more than 1-2 hours of your time, but will have a big impact on the fight against hunger.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Companies and individuals can participate by:
• Assembling meals on-site at your workplace
• Sending volunteers to assemble meals at a community site
• Monetary sponsorships/in-kind contributions
