HOW I LIVE UNITED
"For me, living united is really about servant leadership. In 1922, my grandfather, Paul B. Belden, Sr., went to Cleveland at the behest of William R. Timken to investigate the Community Chest, which had been recently organized there. This led to the incorporation of the Canton Community Chest, the forerunner of the United Way of Greater Stark County, in February of 1922.
"Mr. Timken and my grandfather were true servant leaders interested in improving the quality of life for all Stark Countians. Those of us who have the means and the opportunity to serve our neighbors have a responsibility to advance the common good by addressing the root causes of social and economic problems which affect our community. It is by being part of the solution to our problems that I can give back to this community and positively impact the lives of my fellow Stark Countians.
"These gifts of time, talent, and treasure in service to others are how I strive to
